I have always been amused at the name "Chokers" because of where the word is coming from, I guess is a good visual between a hugging length on your neck and the actual jewel. We have a different approach to the name of this particular piece of jewelry in Spanish, cause the name comes from "Garganta" that means throat, so the actual name in Spanish is "Gargantilla". A little less dramatic than in English, I guess.

Either way this wonderful piece of jewelry is pretty common nowadays and there are so many varieties on the market, I am talking about, shapes, materials, with or without a hanging pendant etc. it's a nice option over a longer necklace.
This pieces of jewelry are usually 14 to 16 inches long. Some designs have some kind of adjustment at the clasp on the back to avoid the literally feeling of being choked.

A choker necklace is meant to highlight the neck, so it's important to take into account the neck's thickness and length. Chokers in general look good on longer necks even if they are thick or too elaborate. But if you have a shorter neck and it is a little heavy, you will need a narrower design. These narrow chokers will produce the illusion of having a longer neck.

Mexican Amber and Sterling Silver

Amber is composed of fossilized tree resin that is a million plus years in age. Prehistoric carvings and beads have been found that contained amber. Amber was often worn by indigenous people and early civilizations for its supernatural properties and as a protection against bad vibrations as well as to purify the spirit. It has been used for centuries by healers and shamans for its ability to keep disease away.

Mexican amber has only been world known since the mid 1970's, but it was the ancient Maya Indians who originally discovered it. Mexican amber that is found in the area of Chiapas, has been formed by the resin from an extinct species of trees and is approximately 20-30 million years old. The area of Chiapas where Mexican amber is found, is very humid, rainy and treacherous territory, Mexican amber, also known as Chiapas amber, is all natural with striking and impressive colors.

But if you wish to order these items, just contact me and I will do my best to get them to you as soon as possible.

We are a very small business and we cannot order and ship just one thing at a time, given the high cost involve. So to keep our prices as low as possible, we have to order several items at once and ship them all together. If you want your items to be shipped directly from Mexico, we would have to charge that cost separately. Some people are willing to do that, if you are one of those costumers, we can always give you the estimate cost for shipping directly from Mexico, that way you won't have to wait as long for your jewelry.
