About Avila Sterling Store

This is a perfect opportunity to let you know about me and our artistic jewelry, made by Mexican silversmiths.  I was born in Mexico and I learned to love its culture, people and its very distinctive art.  That art extends to many aspects of Mexico's daily life. That's why the great "old Taxco" designers, like William Spratling, Margot de Taxco, Hector Aguilar, Los Castillo, to name a few, took several elements and ideas from ancient Mexican cultures and translated them into gorgeous pieces of art. This kind of art has long been a special part of my life and I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to share my experience and knowledge with other people through the unique pieces of jewelry in my store.

I began my business a couple of years ago, presenting just a few silver pieces that I believed best represented my culture. They liked what they saw, and soon people from around the globe started asking questions about my silver jewelry.

Unfortunately, many people seem to have forgotten what the old fashion Mexican jewelry is suppose to look like. All over the internet you see the same thing over and over again. The style has changed in some ways. In some case, modern and low quality manufactured silver jewelry has taken the place of purely handmade, high quality, sturdy, solid silver jewelry.

That's why I want to make sure that this artistic work is not lost forever, so that new generations learn about my culture. This wonderful art dates back many years ago to a small town outside Mexico City called TAXCO, where even today, amid narrowly stone-paved streets, you can still find "old school" silversmiths who worked at one time or another with the Great Masters in silver jewelry.

These silversmiths are old now and probably unknown to the general public, but they keep working, creating the ancient looks that many people around the world still admire. In addition, many still teach the new generation of silversmiths to keep the tradition alive and continue handcrafting these beautiful pieces of jewelry.

As you'll see in my store, many of the pieces shown are unique and difficult to find sometimes. Even for me! My commitment to you is to always provide highest-quality and unique jewelry on the market. Even the more modern and new pieces in my store are beautiful and made with excellent workmanship.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my store and reading my story. Please let me know your opinion and if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me!!
